Hello list.....wondered where you'd gone...this morning I received 13 POWELL-D posts from as far back as Sept. Great fun reading and following the trains.!!! My brick wall [earliest known Powell] is my Great Grandfather, BARNEY HENRY POWELL, Said to be born abt 1851 in Cumberland County NC. and I thought I had him attached to another family ,but that has now been shown NOT to be true. Last year someone sent me a listing from an 1860 NC Census of the following family CENSUS 1860 Cumberland County.N C. BENJAMIN POWELL 45 CARPENTER ELIZABETH " 45 KEEPING HOUSE NANCY " 19 ? MARY E. " 17 ? CHARLOTTE " 15 COTTON MILL BARNEY " 8 WILLIAM H. " 10 JAMES J. " 7 OR 9 If anyone can shed ANY LIGHT on this family or their origins... I would much appreciate the help.
