I have 2 Abraham Powells that I have gotten mixed up. Can someone help me out? The first one is: Abraham W. Powell born about 1790 In Pendleton District, SC. Died 1863 in Cullman, AL. Married Nancy Lou Mulkey. No marriage date or place. She was born about 1812 in GA. They had 3 children that I know of: Jasper Newton born about 1832, Tilmon born March 8, 1836 and Benjamin Hatchfield born August 3, 1838. Second one is: Abraham W. Powell born about 1810 in SC. Died in 1863 in Cullman, AL. Married Eleanor about 1848. She was born about 1824 in AL. They had one son George Powell born about 1849. I have the parents of both of these as James Powell and Rebecca Bynum. This cannot be right? Please help! Thanks! Jane Foley Cornelius, NC

Jane, the 2nd Abraham Powell you mention is ANTHONY WAYNE POWELL also seen as A. W. Hi Jane, Not familiar with your Powell line, but I would say it is possible that this is the same person. Someone probably did a guess on his date of birth . From the looks of things, he could have married Nancy Lou about 1831 then moved to Alabama where something happened to her and he remarried Eleanor in 1848. Just a possibility. Did you look at the Census for 1850 to see how many children are living with him and Eleanor......or if the earlier children are living somewhere else with other members of the families? I have been amazed to turn up a few 2nd or 3rd marriages that I wouldn't have thought possible. Found one last night that surprised the devil out of me and they had her birthdate off by several years.
