Notes: Buried beside "Wayne Powell (1812-1908)" in Valley Cemetery is "Nellie Powell (1844-1906)" It would seem that this should be Elenar of the 1850 census who was born about 1824 AL (census). "Nellie" in the cemetery was supposedly born in 1844. Researchers for this family say that Anthony had a 2nd wife named "Mary". My first instinct would be that he only had the one wife Elenar "Nellie" and that the cemetery record transcription below is an error with the birthdate that should be 1824 instead of 1844. If there was a sp2-named Mary, she may have fitted in somewhere between 1906-1908. Her age is pretty consistent in the records. Powell born 1849. Anthony has just started a family...... or is it a new family....I can't make any sense of him before 1850. In 1830 an "A. Powell" signed the census returns for Blount County, AL. Researchers say: Anthony and wife Mary moved in 1870's to Sevier County, Arkansas...... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now GUESS what Curtis Powell named one of his sons.... Anthony Wayne Powell...... and Curtis can't figure out how he came up with that name....Now for Benjamin.....
