Hi, I'm looking for information on my grgrgr Grandfather Charles L Powell. He married Nancy Edwards 16 Mar. 1840 in Pittsylvania Co. VA. They had 11 kids; Charles, Lavenia, Vincent, Lewis, Homer, Robert (my grgr Grandfather), Lucitta, Elizabeth, Nancy, Emma, William. According to the 1870 census Charles L. Powell was a deputy sheriff. I'd really like to find out his parents names as well as siblings, but any information will be appreciated. Thanks Wende
By searching around the net and on Powell Genforum, I found a few instances that state Charles L. Powell that married Nancy Edwards was a son of Charles Powell and Lucinda Hancock of Franklin Co. VA., and that this Charles Powell was a son of Robert Powell and Chathere Tuggle of Franklin Co. VA. Lucinda Hancock is said to be a daughter of Lewis Hancock and Celia Hancock. I did not see a source noted on any of the material, but still this would be a good hint as to where to look for more clues.
