Lewis and Mary Powell appear in Ellsworth Co KS 1880 census with a daughter Rose born in 1878. Lewis was born about 1853 in Wisconsin, the son of Lucretia Hollabaugh Powell and perhaps her husband John Ruben Powell. Mary was born about 1858 in OH. Her maiden name is unknown. Lewis died in Feb 1884 at Holyrood, Ellsworth Co, KS. At the time of the 1885 Kansas state census Mary and two daughters Letta and Adda born 1881 and 1883 were living with Mary's brother-in-law James C Powell and his family. Rose is not there. I assume she died. They are not to be found in Ellsworth County in the 1895 census, nor have I been able to find any clues as to Mary, Letta or Adda in the 1900 census. If you have any clues regarding this family, I would be thrilled to hear from you.
