NJ POWELLs are not unique. My James POWELL and wife Mary REEDER of Hunterdon County, NJ left there to Hampshire County, VA (now WV) in 1787, right after the Revolution. Moving backward, this James POWELL and his origins are also unknown. However, we have 100 years separating our NJ POWELLs, and I don't see a way we can make a connection. Just didn't want you to think you were the only one with a NJ POWELL. Bob Fetters, named for my Grandfather, Robert POWELL of Highland County, OH > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > Surnames: POWELL > Classification: Query > > Fellow Powell seekers - > I must read through at least a dozen messages a day that come into my mailbox, and I have yet to find anyone who is researching Powells in New Jersey. Is there anyone out there with information on this branch of the family?! My g-grandparents were Samuel and Margaret (maiden name unknown) Powell who were born abt. 1872 & 1873 respectively. Their children's names were: Anna, Esther, Lillian, Robert, Benjamin and Horace. I have what available information there is in the censuses, but that doesn't help me break the brick wall down that will enable me to learn more about my Powell family. If anyone has any info, or any ideas as to how I could learn more about these people, please help! > Thanks a lot, and good hunting! > Jeanne > > > ==== POWELL Mailing List ==== > To unsubscribe from this list, send ONLY the word UNSUBSCRIBE to the utility address POWELL-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM If you are trying to unsubscribe from the Digest list, use the same utility address but change the -L- to a -D- > > ============================== > View and search Historical Newspapers.
