His Catherine Ann Powell married John Norwood and they resided in Simpson County, Mississippi. Breakthrough data is provided in the "Family Tree of Bill Norwood" posted online. In the will of John Powell, Catherine's father, William is appointed as one of the executors and is not referred to as Hinton which is how he is listed in many property and census records but, all the data matches up. The significant link to the South/North Carolina family is that in a letter by Absolum Coulmbus Powell, he refers to "uncle Hinton". Absolum Columbus Powell's father was James Powell who was Catherine and Hinton's brother. Robert Haines Powell in his application for Confederate States service pension ties these people together. After years of trying, I am fairly certain of this relationship discovery. I welcome any input to the contrary. We all want to be sure of our genealogy.
