He married PRISCILLA BEESON in Randolph, NC on 11 March 1811 (Henry's name is listed as "Henery Powel" in the marriage bann, and church records list both "Powel" and "Powell"). Henry and Priscilla were Quakers, and were members of Center MM; however, this church's meeting records are lost so we can't get any additional information from them. Records from neighboring meetinghouses have not turned up anything else, either. Henry and Priscilla had at least three children: MURPHY POWELL (abt 1810 - 1847), EMSLEY POWELL (1813 - ??) and EDMUND POWELL (1815-1872). The family moved to Indiana from NC between 1823 and 1824, and the Silvercreek MM notes reflect they were received from Centre MM in NC. In subsequent Quaker notes, Henry is chastised and removed from the membership on charges of adultery, and the records reflect that he married LYDIA COOK (abt 1808 - ??) in 1826, but there are no state records to back this up. Later census records reveal that he may have lived in Vermilion County, IL. I'm looking for ANY additional information on Henry, but am especially interested in his parentage. Also looking for any information on his wives, Priscilla and Lydia, or his children. Were there other children besides Murphy, Edmund and Emsley? Was his marriage to Priscilla his first marriage? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!!!! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
