I don't have a lot on the Barnwell County Powells, but I am a descendant, also. John Powell's (b. 1789) father was Nathaniel Powell, b. abt. 1764, don't know who his wife was. In addition to John, he had a son William, b. abt. 1785 and died abt. 1815 in Barnwell County, SC. His wife was Elizabeth ___. Nathaniel also had another son and a daughter, according to the census. I suspect that your John's wife was Sarah McDonald/McDaniel, but I don't have positive proof of that. I come through William and Elizabeth's daughter, Isabella Powell who married Hiram McDonald (son of John McDonald). I am interested in the DNA project, but am female.
