Many members of his family were born and raised on the island and the surrounding area of Connemara. My grandfather, Michael John Powell, moved to Scotland and settled there. However, I believe many of his aunts, uncles & cousins moved to the USA (my family think New York & Pennsylvania and that the surnames Joyce & Halloran/Holloran pop up). His father, William Powell (my g.grandfather), apparently left/abandoned the family on Omey around 1921. The family folklore is that William settled & died around about Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I'm just looking for some information about the Powells and if anyone knows anything about William as the full story has eluded us so far!
