I think it is possible since he had a son named John Byrd Powell. My second grat grandfather was Byrd Powell born in 1821 in North Carolina. His name may have been David Byrd Powell, as well as his son David B. Powell. I have been unable to determine the siblings of my My third Great Grandfater Nathan Powell born 1784 in North Carolina who I think may be related to Pleasant. My Great Grandfather was David B Powell (one post said his middle name was Byrd) who married Martha Jane Calhoun. I have not located Martha Jane Calhoun in any census before 1880 where she is married to David Powell living in Worth County, GA. My Grandmother Sarah Lee Powell told me that she was Irish and Cherokee. With the information you provided about the Cherokees moving from North Carolina to Georgia to Alabama, I tried new searches to try to find the parents of Jane Calhoun. Jane was born in 1851 in Georgia which could have been during the movement fr! om North Carolina to Georgia and she married David B Calhoun in 1871. Another thing that I suspect is that Byrd is a derivative of Bird which could be a Cherokee name. What I have been able to determine through sources is in the Latta Youngblood public tree.
