The story of the Bell witch is well known in Robertson Co. and the Bell family had come there from Halifax Co. NC. The daughter in the story, Betsey Bell, who had been the one tormented by the so called Bell witch, eventually married Richard Powell who had also been born in Halifax Co. NC and had moved to Nashville then removed to Robertson Co. TN. My own Powells....Eaton and Holly (Adams) Powell had moved from Halifax Co. NC to Clarksville, Montgomery Co. TN the neighboring county to Robertson, as well as his brother, James Powell and uncle Hampton Powell. They all seemed to have made this move between 1815 - 1818.
