My ancestor is Ambrose Powell who was born in about 1745 in Culpeper Co., VA and died in 1827 in Maury Co., TN. He was married to Margaret Holt, and then Margaret Knox. He was also in the Revolutionary War. We have pretty much proven his father as John Powell b. about 1715 in Old Rappahannock Co., VA. and died in 1783 in Burke Co., NC. He was married to Mary O'Neal. This Ambrose is sometimes confused with the Ambrose Powell who married Mary Bledsoe, because that Ambrose was also in the Rev. War, but they are 2 different persons.
