His wife is in Iredell county 1850 with children, but evidently he has died. Anything appreciated. P Jacobs

    1. [POWELL] Powell/Kelley Connection
    2. Does anyone have a Powell/Kelley connection? They may have come from GA and or Alabama to TX. Cass County, TX. I don't know if they came as a family or as children with their individual families. I've been told he was James Irwin Kelley. She was supposed to be Fannie (Frances?) Powell. I only know the name of one child, John K. Kelley born in Cass County, TX 1865 or was it 1856. If it was 1856 I can find the family but not 1865. He may have had a sister named Mae (May) Orville. She married a Dean and had 2 children before she died and we have no records of her. These people were living, raising families in the Northeast part of Texas. Red River County, Cass County, Bowie County, Lamar County, Morris County (The son John K. married his first wife Rebecca Ann Dean in this county in Dec. 1880.) and there are more counties. Ruth

    1. Re: [POWELL] Early Powells-Zachariah
    2. Kim: Thanks for your response. I have seen the name Zachariah Powell somewhere in my notes as I have worked in SC on other families, and in addition there were Powells in Hancock Co. Ga. where I did extensive work. Ga has wonderful USGENweb archives, and they are always uploading (more than the VA state I am working on) so do try a search in there again. If I run across any information I will contact you. Mary Jean n a message dated 01/15/2004 9:36:37 AM Eastern Standard Time, kimnjim@citcom.net writes: The Powell I'm looking for is Zachariah, whose daughter Martha, my ancestor, was born in Pendleton District, SC, in Oct. 1804. And that's all I know about him, except that he was still in that area the next year, b/c he entered (unsuccessfully) the 1805 Elbert Co., GA land lottery. I do hope you find some help and I'm really sorry I can't provide any. Kim Spencer

    3. Hi Mary Jean, I certainly have the let's help each other mentality, but unfortunately don't have any information that might help you. I've decided that's the case with lots of other Powell searchers. We wish we could help, but just can't. I've been following this board for about a year and a half, with no luck. I put in a query every few months, with the hope that someone new has joined who's looking for the same line I am. The Powell I'm looking for is Zachariah, whose daughter Martha, my ancestor, was born in Pendleton District, SC, in Oct. 1804. And that's all I know about him, except that he was still in that area the next year, b/c he entered (unsuccessfully) the 1805 Elbert Co., GA land lottery. I do hope you find some help and I'm really sorry I can't provide any.
