    3. I descend from Joseph POWELL, b abt 1730, place unknown, d Nov 1771 in Hampshire Co, VA (now wv). His wife was Christina/Chrisen FRY/FRYE. There seem to be an usual number of Dutch connections to this line of POWELLs. I descend from the second son, Samuel, who md Phoebe/Phebe Catharine YASEL/YSSELSTYN(or varient spelling). I suspect there is some connection to the "English Moravians", Joseph and Samuel, who settled south of Bethlehem, PA, c 1742. 2. Hello, Re: connecting POWELL-GRESHAM/GRISHAM/GRISSOM/N/LUMPKIN/HATTEN-HATTON-FORD-CALVIT/CALVET-LOTT-FAITH-JONES-McCARTY-SLAUGHTER-MUNN-ADAMS-LEE-WOMACK-SLAUGHTER- MYRICK-PARKER-HERRINGTON-STUCKEY-GRANTHAM I have recently found that I descend from POWELL lineage that was in Oglethorpe County, Georgia in 1806 with the marriage of my maternal 4th great grandmother, Lucy POWELL, who married my maternal 4th great grandfather, Barnett GRISHAM/GRESHAM, (son of Sarah LUMPKIN and John GRESHAM,) born: abt. 1787 in King & Queen County, Virginia with his father, John GRESHAM having been born March 20, 1741 in King & Queen County, Virginia so it may also be that Lucy POWELL's family was out of King & Queen County, Virginia before Oglethorpe County, Virginia but have no info on any other POWELL names. My descent is as follows: Edward? GRESHAM, (immigrant) George? (1) GRESHAM, I/Sr. George (2?) GRESHAM, II/Jr. & Sarah ? John GRESHAM, (b:March 20, 1741, King & Queen Co., VA) & Sarah?/Martha? LUMPKIN, (d/o Robert LUMPKIN) Barnett GRESHAM, (b: abt. 1787 in King & Queen Co., VA,) & Lucy POWELL, (md: Dec. 18, 1806 in Oglethorpe Co., VA) Jehu Madison GRESHAM/GRISHAM & Elizabeth Ann FORD, (d/o Elizabeth CALVIT/CALVET & Henry FORD) Frances Ann GRISHAM & Lawrence M. HATTEN/HATTON, (CSA/POW,) (s/o Frances Lucretia "Patsy" LOTT & Wm. 2. Hello, Back on the list after a year's absence and I am researching many lines including my descent from: LIGHTFOOT, LOTT, HATTEN/HATTON, GRISHAM/GRESHAM, FORD, POWELL, LAMKIN/LAMPKIN, LUMPKIN, BUCKLES/BUCKHOLTS and trying to wade through other possible connections that maybe others of you have already made or not..... Many of us from these lines have been trying to confirm descent in LIGHTFOOT line and in this info from Wilkinson Co., GA there is the Philip LIGHTFOOT, Sr, from Burke County, Georgia in 1806 that I believe is probably the same Philip LIGHTFOOT that is the father of Margaret Susannah LIGHTFOOT and may be the father of my 4th great grandmother, Martha Jane Dorsey? LIGHTFOOT, who married Absalom LOTT, and their daughter, Frances Lucretia "Patsy" LOTT, married as the 1st wife of my 3rd great grandfather, William HATTEN/HATTON, (2nd wife was Anna NETTLES,) and their son, Lawrence M. HATTEN, (CSA,) married as the 1st husband of Frances Ann GRISHAM/GRESHAM, (2nd husband was Zachary Taylor "Zack" FAITH,) and their son, Cicero Lamkin HATTEN, married Rodella "Della" JONES, are my maternal great grandparents. Frances Ann GRISHAM was the daughter of Elizabeth Ann FORD and Jehu Madison GRISHAM/GRESHAM whose father has most often been listed as Jehu GRISHAM but it appears most likely, at this point, that his parents were Barnett GRISHAM and Lucy POWELL. And I have just found a possible/probable connection between the aforementioned Philip LIGHTFOOT, Sr. and Barnett GRISHAM in land lottery information in the same area of Georgia where the LOTT family also was which may provide enough information to connect some of the d Aots that I didn't previously have but some of you may have had previous to this. As well I am trying to surmise if there there is a connection between the LUMPKIN/LUMKIN and LAMKIN/LAMPKIN groups. Please see the following and I would be delighted to hear of anything connecting to this info. Thanks. Barnett GRISHAM/GRESHAM is shown as son of John GRISHAM/GRESHAM and Sarah LUMPKIN. I haven't found a lot on them yet but Barnett GRISHAM/GRESHAM is shown on: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/wilkinson/deeds/1805lot4th.txt WILKINSON COUNTY, GA - DEEDS 1805 Land Lottery 4th Dis Wilkinson 4th DistrictWilkinson County, GA1805 Land LotteryLand Lot Name From Date of Possession Other Owner1 John Martin Wilkes County 7 May 18062 Mary Benton (widow) Jackson 20 Nov. 18063 Mary Reid Greene 5 Dec 18054 Robert Watkins Richmond 12 Mar 1806 Granted to Heirs5 Francis Hodges Oglethorpe 18 June 18066 Mrs. David Fry Chatham 21 Aug 18067 John Gibson Warren 20 Aug 18068 Philip Lightfoot Sr. Burke 25 Aug 1806 and then further down into the list is 297 Barnett Gresham Oglethorpe 13 Jun 1806 298 James Alberton Chatham 6 Aug 1806299 John Foster Hancock 4 Sept 1805300 Looking forward to hearing from you.
