Jennifer, did Edley Powell stay in NC? I am looking for an Ed Powell in NC, wife Sarah. One of their daughters married Samuel Riley. I find Sarah in 1850 census and Edley must be dead or something. Thank you, Phyllis
I'm trying to find the family of Jas Powell, born about 1837 in Mississippi, he married L.V. she was also born in Mississippi. They were living in Hunt County Texas on the 1880 census. His brother was living with them William Harvey Powell he was 25, and soon after the census married Rebecca Ellen Reagan. If this family sounds familiar I would love to hear from you Margie Powell
Hi Ed,the information on John is in the same Ballpark as that which i have on my line,it is close enough that it is worth some more Research. All the Legal info i have on Joseph Powell and Son's comes from Records in either the Library of Virginia or the Fairfax City Library.I also have a copy of the St Pauls Parrish Records which Records most of the Joseph Powell Family. My File is Several Hundred Pages and i will have to Edit out the Joseph Powell Info and send it to you in a seperate mail.Later,Jack Powell
Sharon,i also have my work Posted on the same sites and have also removed all notes and Legal Documents for the same Reasons.I went one step beyond that and no longer allow any GEDCOM files to be Downloaded. Jack Powell
I would like to have the June Orton info. I discussed our line many times with June, but did not realize she had put together a book. I think my line is the same except through Elias, JR, Amborse's brother. Also, I agree with your assessment of sharing information. I have not checked many female surnames, but have had great help from all people I have requested information. Including you. -----Original Message----- From: Mary-Gene Page [mailto:mgpage@unlimited.net] Sent: Saturday, August 07, 2004 4:29 PM To: POWELL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [POWELL] Powell-MyFamily site? Dear Jack, I have had marvelous success with people willing to share - here and on the Powell Forum of GenForum. Also other mailing lists and forums. There are many, many lines I have been able to receive information on that I would never have had the time to follow from California. Incidentally, I do try to contact all female surnames as well as male, and that is where I have had very good luck. My Powell line is back to the Ambrose who wass born c1754, probably Burke Co VA, and d 1827 in Maury Co TN. I have a book from June Powell Orton, recently deceased, which details many of his descandants. I am willing to relay this information to anyone who is related, although June had done such a good job of contacting us that I believe we all know who each other is. At this time I do not have any information on any of your Powells - no one is absolutely sure who Ambrose' ancestors are, although speculation is strong that they were John and Mary O'Neal Powell who left Culpeper Co VA and were in Orange Co NC by 1755, then to Burke Co NC c1779. Hello Powell List: Does anyone have information that links Robert Powell of Culpeper,Va (abt. 1669) to Jamestown? I have seen several pedigrees that go in different directions. Specifically, I was wondering if there was a link to one of the Thomas Powells of Jamestown. If so, was it the Thomas Powell, brother of Capt. Nathaniel Powell? Has anyone sorted these Thomas' out? Thanks, Michael Powell
Hello List, For anyone's information there is a L. R. Powell married to a Lucie (Bynum) Hudson, married to a R. L. Powell in Walker Co. Ga., Sept. 5, 1915, file or book 5-319. Do not have any idea if this Powell is related to my Lewis R. Powell from Va., born 1792, living in Hall Co. Ga. from 1820 to the late early 1840's. I hope the Lucie (Bynum) info will help someone, and if anyone might know something about Lewis R. Powell, I would love to hear from you. Do you know if James Powell and his wife, Rebecca Bynum Powell, might have had a daughter that they named Rebecca? I ask because my gr., gr., gr., grandmother Rebecca Powell was born abt. 1806 in either Indiana or Tennessee. She was first married to an Ellis who must have died. She then married Jonas Manary at Morgan County, Illinois on Sept. 12, 1838. Her marriage license has her listed as Mrs. Rebecca Ellis. I was so hoping it would have had her maiden name and her parents name, but no such luck. On her daughter, Emily Jane Manary (Redshaw) death certificate, it lists her mother as Rebecca Powell born in Indiana. I mention Tennessee, because some of the family thought she was from TN. I believe her maiden name was Rebecca Powell, but I am trying to find out who her parents were and where exactly she was born and also where she died. I know after Jonas Manary died in 1852, she married James Atchison (born in Virginia abt.1792) on Oct.27, 1859 at Mahaska County, Iowa. James Atchison died on Dec. 15, 1867 and is buried in Mahaska County, Iowa. I have spent the morning reading Judy's articles and feel that anyone would definitely benefit from some of them. http://www.thecitizennews.com/finding%20your%20folks/fyf2004/fyf040723.htm Judy Fowler Kilgore has written a great article on how to "write a query". Jane Foley
I have an Elizabeth Powell b. 1761, daughter of John Powell, Jr and Mary O'Neal. She also had a brother Robert b. abt 1756. However, I do not have concrete proof, but I do have proof from me back to Elias, Jr. 1754 -1832 m. Barbara Albright. I would be glad to share info and the reasoning behind this route. -----Original Message----- From: powelldm@bellsouth.net [mailto:powelldm@bellsouth.net] Sent: Friday, July 30, 2004 11:55 PM To: POWELL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: Re: [POWELL] Robert Powell Hi, Jennifer: I am a descendent of the following: Ambrose Powell (d. 1814 , Anson Co.
