    3. Hi Listers, I have a grandfather JOHN Llewellyn Powell who was born in Llantrisaint in 1856. He may have had a twin sister, CATHERINE. Another Sister, JANE was born in 1858 in Pontyclun and a brother DAVID, dob unknown. John, Catherine and Jane migrated to Australia in 1877. David remained in Wales. I have no other information on David. If he married he may have descendants now living in the area of Llantrisant. I have 3 questions 1. They would have been Baptised in one of the local Parish Churches, does anyone have a listings of or access to the Baptisms Register of these Churches? 2. Alternatively can anyone suggest Churches and the addresses that I could contact for research of their records? 3. Does anyone relate to any of the above, particularly to David or know of possible descendants? TIA, Shirley in Sydney, Australia

    3. Hi, Gayle in Kansas! What was the date of birth for Lucretia Powell Oziah? Do you know the name of her first husband, the Powell? Were they ever in Tennessee? I ask because I remember I wrote her name down on a slip of paper as someone to explore while doing research for the siblings or parents of my gr. gr. gr. grandmother, Rebecca Powell. She was born in Tennessee around 1806 0r 1807. I would sure love to find out who her parents were or even some siblings. She married an Ellis, where I haven't been able to find out. He must have died and then she remarried to Jonas Manary in Morgan County, Illinois. So, I don't know if her own family moved north or her first husband and she moved north, or what. I'm exploring all possibilities! Will keep an eye out for your family. 3. Have you looked for Powells in GA, SC and VA? Lewis Powell was a much used name in the Powell line There was one in Warren Co, GA ca 1790-1820 If you are near a genealogy library, there is a 2 volume book of POWELLS. Happy Hunting.

    3. I am searching for Lewis Powell born 1853 in Wisconsin, died Feb 1884 in Holyrood, Ellsworth Co, KS. He married Mary born about 1858 in OH (maiden name unknown) probably about 1876-7 ... don't know where. There were three daughters Rose, Letta, and Adda all born in Kansas. Lewis, Mary, and Rose are in the 1880 Ellsworth Co, KS census. The widow Mary and daughters Letta and Adda appear in the 1885 census. I am assuming Rose died, but could have just been left out of the census. I have never found Lewis in a census with his mother, Lucretia Powell Oziah until he is living next door to her in 1880. I have lost Mary and the girls after the 1885 census. They are not in Ellsworth Co, KS in the 1895 census. Lucretia and the rest of her children are in Manitowoc Co WI in 1850, Stark and Henry Counties, IL in 1860 and 1870. Any help will be appreciated! Gayle in Kansas

    3. This article makes me weep. People just don't understand the preciousness of family and history. They don't understand the love and reverence that we hold in our hearts for our ancestors and others who leveled the trail for us. I should say, blazed the trail for us! I pray someday they do feel in their hearts what we feel today and are deeply ashamed of their actions. The beloved dead may not have been able to haunt them that night, but I hope their guilt does. 3. I do hope they find who did it and take some measures against them for it is wrong to trespass. But I also note that some of the gravestones are illegible and no one know who was buried there...yet there is a such attachment to the space. It would be better, in my view, to cremate people and have a more permanent memorial wall with the person's name and dates. It still gives a physical place to go to if you need to light a candle, but does not glorify a physical body that has turned to dust. It honors the person - meaning their spirit. I say this as someone who began dealing with death very early in life, starting with my father's death when I was 10 and proceeding for three decades with over 30 family deaths. -----Original Message----- From: Jane Foley [mailto:mjfent@bellsouth.net] Sent: Friday, October 22, 2004 7:53 AM To: POWELL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [POWELL] Cemetery Vandalism I felt like I had to share this article with some of the other lists in case they had some relatives in this cemetery. 3. Hi Ella, It may be the way their AV program is set up. Sometimes I have things that end up in a SPAM file and have to reroute it by telling the program that it isn't SPAM. Probably not on your end at all. Thank you for your attempt to help others! 1. 1850 Phila., PA Census..families I've highlighted...many names...connections?
    2. Hello all, I went through the Southwark District of Philadelphia, PA in the 1850, as well as other districts) and I highlighted families that are either connected or might be connected to my own family. I am listing those families here to see if any of you out there might have a connection and have some information to add or confirm possible relationships. I do have some information on some families and I am more than willing to share. If the page number is at the top of the cenus page image I will include it with the names. If not then I will list the "Dwelling-house numbered in the order or visitation" which is the 1st column on the left hand side of the actual image itself. All poeple living in the same household are grouped together with a space or 2 seperating each household. Also...I am taking the best guess that I can on some information here because it is hard to read. I will place a question mark directly after the information that I guess on just incase I'm wrong. Hey...we're not all perfect. Here we go... 1st Ward Southwark District Page 15b and 16 Precilla SPARKS age 48 born in NJ Martha age 19 born in PA Manuel age 17 ship carpenter born in PA Dennis CASEY age 24 oak cooper born in PA Rebecca VANCE age 52(?) born in Delaware Rachael MURPHY age 52(?) born in NJ Mary INNES age 22 born in PA Jacob POWELL age 49 blacksmith born in NJ Elizabeth age 47 born in PA Rhoda Ann age 16 born in PA Elizabeth age 4 born in PA Charles age 1 born in PA Aaron age 24 sail maker born in PA Christian BAUMEISTER age 43 dealer born in Germany Mary age 39 born in Germany Hannah age 13 born in Germany Caroline age 11 born in Germany Christian age 9 born in Germany ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- dwelling # 326 Thomas SPARKS age 25 ship carpenter born in NJ Ann age 22 born in PA John age 1 born in PA ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Page 44 Eliza CLARK age 49 born in NJ Elinor age 24 store keeper born in NJ Catherine DUFFIELD age 48 born in NJ Lydia HENDRICKSON age 44 born in NJ Hannah RAMBO age 18 born in PA Lydia HAY or KAY age 6 born in NJ Judith(?)
