Peter Powell b. 1733 on the Overwharton Parrish records, Stafford Co. VA to Charles Powell and Elizabeth. In my decades of years researching my direct Powell line, Charles Powell brother to the above Peter, I have yet to see any Powell researcher claiming this Peter Powell. We are looking to contact living descendants of Peter researching this Powell line. The Register first mentions Charles and Elizabeth Powel September 20, 1731, when their son, John, was born. In 1733, a son Peter was recorded; followed by Elizabeth in 1735 and Martha in 1736. But most important to us, on May 26, 1740, Charles Powel came into this world. Peggy Powel was born April 8, 1744. Before Peggy was a month old, April 30, 1744, her father Charles Powel died. The following year on December 3, Elizabeth Powel married Duke Whalbone. Duke and Elizabeth had a son, Thomas, in 1746 and a daughter, Nanny, in 1749. The Powel family remained in Overwharton Parish for over 25 years. Charles Powel, the son, and his Gholson inlaws, moved to Halifax Co. VA in 1777. [our ancestor] John Powell wife Margaret and children along with Duke and Elizabeth Whalebone and their Whalebone children, moved to Caswell Co. NC ca 1780ish. Elizabeth Powell, the daughter, died 1814 Mason Co. KY, married 1. Joshua Owens, married 2. John Calvert. Martha married John Goldsmith 1756 Stafford Co. VA and remained in Stafford Co. until her death. We have no further record of Peggy or of Peter Powell. Warm Regards, Fleta
It has been awhile since I have posted a query regarding my Powell ancestor, Almond or Almon Powell of Pickens Co., SC. Almond is located on the 1850 Census of Pickens Co., SC FM# 575. Living in the household is his wife Elizabeth (Gordon) and Children Asa, Robert and Thomas. They are living next door to their daughter Mary Broom(e), wife of Burrell Broom(e) and their family. Almond and Elizabeth had two additional daughters, Caroline who was married to Joseph McIntire and Sarah married to DiWitt Cantwell. I am hoping one of our many new members might connect to this Powell line. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

Does anyone else connect with the Powell line from Onslow County in 1740s and 50s to 60. I believe in the book regarding the Powell descendants has Lewis Powell going into Kentucky or Tennessee but do not believe this is correct. The Lewis Powell that was in Onslow County ended up in Edgefield, Co. S.C. I thought he may be the son of George Powell and connected to the Moses Powell line. A. Sawyer

Hello Folk, I am a scouse, and born in West Derby, Liverpool now living in Australia. My Powell line came from Knowsley with my dad running a farm given to him as Grace & Favour by Lord Derby, and as long as a Powell lived there no one could chuck him off the land. Sid & Alice who we have met on our trips to the farm, they were given the option of buying it when dad died. Sidney & Alice Powell bought the farm. Both are now dead, and we have yet to find out if it will be sold, or kept in the family. I have had contact with people in the USA who branch in with our Powells, their names include Marsden & Marshall. We would be glad to hear from anyone who is, or maybe interested in making contact. To the family, you are welcome to join us in New South Wales Down Under. With kindest regards, Eric Dermott-Powell.
Dear Rhonda, Do you know the parents of James Harvey Powell born in Tennesseee abt. 1822? I ask because my gr. gr. gr. grandmother, Rebecca Powell was born in Tennessee abt 1806. I wonder if they could have had the same parents? Sincerely, Linda Lyon
Hi, Deborah Powell Payne! I went to school with Jeri Powell who is a sister to the recently deceased James D. Powell of Spenser, Libby and Powell funeral home. If you wrote to Mrs. James D. Powell, 1100 Kelly Ave., The Dalles, Oregon 97058 and told them Linda Anthony Lyon, a high school friend of James' sister Jeri, mentioned the Powell family of The Dalles, Oregon to you in your quest to learn more about the genealogy of the Powell's of Oregon. Ask her if she could help you with this tree or if she could give your letter to one of the family members who may be interested in genealogy? Sincerely, Linda Anthony Lyon PS Tell them Linda says, "Hi, to Jeri!" and that her email address is lyonfam@warwick.net and she would be delighted to hear from her.
I have never found one POWELL in this list who was researching my AP HOWELL POWELL'S line b 1/1/1783 in Brechnockshire, Wales. He immigrated to Boston abt 1819 with his wife, Mary Ann RICHARDS and his children, Janett, Mary Ann, Eleyza, Martha. and William Henry b 1818. His other children, Eliza and James Taylor were born in Watertown (Middlesex Cty), MA where he lived until 1837 when he moved his family to Northville (LaSalle Cty), IL by covered wagon to begin their lives as farmers. Now you can add another 2 states to your research map! Jo-Ann SEITZINGER
