    3. Is Edwin Reeder Powell connected in any way to James Powell and his wife Mary Reeder? I know one of their children was named Reeder Powell, and last info I had on him was when he was with James and Mary POWELL in Wayne County, IN in the early 1820's. James and Mary were originally from Hunterdon Co, NJ, via Hampshire Co, VA/WV (1787-1816). HIS SON, LEMUEL Powell, is mentioned not only in the will of Thomas Bowles in 1719, but also in the will of WILLIAM Powell NO. 7, dated 1701." If George was born in 1697 then this can't refer to him. Doesn't it refer to George's father John? Plus, George didn't have a son Lemuel but he has a brother Lemuel.

Or the birth dates for the others mentioned in that tidbit section? I ask because my great, great, great grandmother, Rebecca Powell, was born in 1806 in Tennessee. I have found a census report for Rutherford, Rutherford County, TN, with a widowed Rebecca Powell, who has daughters listed in the age catagory that would be correct for my 3 greats grandmother. I was hoping this widow was indeed my 3 greats grandmother's, Mom. Obviously, she was married to a Powell who could have been from another state and may have moved to TN for the land. He would have died and left his wife, Rebecca a widow with children and slaves. The census year I speak of was for 1820. It lists 1 female 10-15 yrs., 2 females 16-25 yrs., 1 female 45 yrs. and upwards, including heads of families. Then 2 people engaged in agriculture. 1 Male slave under 14 yrs., 1 Male slave 26-under 45 yrs., 4 Female slaves under 14 yrs., 1 Female slave 14 yrs and under 26 yrs. old. It would be so wonderful if this helped to solve the mystery of who my 3 greats grandmother's parents were and which family tree they are related to. Just thought I'd ask if you thought there may be a connection? Thanks. Linda Lyon

    3. Hi Mary ...... Would it be possible for you to post the text of George Powell's will? He is also in my line of Powells and I have always wondered how it was worded. Did he have any daughters? Did he have any other heirs? What are other names there and property descriptions. As his boys moved south they appear to have left as children with other families. Maybe the verbage of the Will gives clues to that....
