Catherine Ardiel the sister of my Esther/Hester Ardiel and Ambrose Kyte Powell the brother of my Stephen Powell... looks like the two brothers married the two sisters... I am so happy to meet you. Stephen's son Henry is my 2nd great grandfather. He married Catherine McCutcheon. I just received their pictures and was so excited. I found the headstones pictures at the cemetery site. My Henry and most of his children migrated to the United States. I wonder whether Wm. O. might be a part of the Ambrose Powell of Maury TN descendants. I don't know what the "O" is for, but one branch of the family had several Peter O. members, and the name William is seen throughout the family. I have this book and (maybe 5 years ao) bought it directly from the publishers - a price in the double digits, as I remember - nowhere near what you quote. It is large, over 400 pages, with both suggested lineages and with sources to uphold those suppositions - although I have heard that there are many errors, none of which I know about. I would suggest writing the publishers direct. Unless you just want to buy these book you can check with your local library or interlibrary loan. My library here has it and it has a lot of information on the different Powell families. ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, August 04, 2009 3:39 PM Subject: Re: [POWELL] Anybody ever read this book? As far as the library goes I think it depends on your library. Where I live, the main library in the county that has a genealogy section doesn't have either of the Lucas books on the Powell's. But they have an excellent section on the New England states. I have told my family when I die to donate any genealogy books that I may have purchased before then to that library. My local library the only thing they have are books on how to do genealogy. No, books on any location or family. I was very surprised when I started.~Diane
