Thank you, Mary, for your message. Are you looking for more information about your parents? Or your grandparents? As you get further into genealogy you'll learn that there are AMAZINGLY many people with the same name. So it's important to give more information when you're making a query: dates? places? And remember, it's better to ask about grandparents or others who are deceased because those who are still living might not want to have that information on the web. Best regards and good luck in your future genealogy! He had a son, Jr. who MAY have died in infancy. A niece of his said that nothing much was known of his family, only that he had "gone west". She knew that he had at least one daughter, who had married a HOPKINS. I met the daughter of that daughter, but she was not very familiar with the family and now she is deceased (she returned to Lewisburg, TN, where Andrew Jackson Powell had been born, and I believe that is where she died). My thinking is that the Andrew Jackson Powell to whom you refer might have been the abov son purported to have died in infancy. Or, he could have been the son of one of AJPowell's other children. Would any of this possibly link to the family you are researching? Mary-Gene Page California Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Dodge, Webster County Iowa. The Father, Andrew Jackson Powell Jr. was heard to have been a considerable land owner in the area. I'm not sure how to confirm this as I am in Oklahoma. The surviving child was Charles John Powell, My G-Grandfather. The children were murdered by their mother, Nellie B. (Kiler) Powell. I located her in the Cherokee County State Hospital on the 1910 Census in Iowa, and Andrew (Jack) had moved to Cerro Gordo County Iowa. Both Nellie and Jack were from Mclean County Illinois where jack is buried. Nellie died in an institution in Eau Claire Wisconsin. Like several other people I've searched over the years for Hannah Powell born 1779, daughter of Robert Powell, who died in Berkeley Springs VA (now WV). Hannah wed 5/12/1798 in Frederick Md. Luke A. Gardner born 1776. Luke and Hannah had 10 children and later moved to Nelson County Kentucky and then on to Putnam County Indiana. All I can find on Hannah's father is that his name was Robert ( 1749 - 1824 or 1829). Robert's children were Hannah, Martha 1774-1866 wed Francis Watson, Mary 1781-? wed John Stidley or Steidley, and Lydia Elizabeth 1782-? wed William Bartlett. I have never found any mention of Robert's wife. If any one has any other details, I'd certainly appreciate hearing about Robert and family.
