    3. Which John Wesley Powell are you talking about? I have come across at least three John Wesley Powells with different birth years and different parents. When you refer to one could you at least provide a birth year and a fathers name? It would make it easier to determine whether there might be a connection. Also not all branches of the Powell will intersect. So the two coats of arms more than likely have little or nothing to do with each other. 1. [POWELL] SUBJECT LINES
    2. Please remember everyone that some of us use the digest and only check subject lines for messages; therefore, just saying something like "the Powells" is not going to get our attention. It's best to name your ancestor or the town in the subject line, i.e., "Howell Powell of Wales". Jo-Ann Seitzinger

I am summarizing my memories of my grandmother with a top ten reasons for loving her as Grandma Schick who was always with Granddad Schick. (1) She always made my favorite food when I came to visit including home made chocolate pudding, wonderful pies and superb mashed potatoes. (2) She would come and pick me up on Friday afternoons and I would spend the weekend with her and granddad. (3) She took me to Sunday School from age 4 to 10 and made certain that I didn't miss, too. (4) She took me to Chataqua in New York for intellectual discussions. (5) She took me to Schick family reunions in Armstrong County, Pa. (6) She ran interference for me when I hit baseballs through peoples windows and made certain that grandad fixed them for me. (7) When I asked for a football, for Christmas, I got a box of sport balls so that I could play any sport. (8) She never shared the anquish that she had with two of her son's from World War II exposure. (9) She treated my wife like a queen, yet still managed to tell her that it was a sin to smoke cigareetes. (10) She was bright (psychiatric nurse, loving, thoughtful and the best grandmother there ever was, from my perspective. If you wish to share your email address, I will attempt to share an enlarged picture of Effie from December 1969 as well as one which includes her, my wife, Sue, my son Doug and myself.
