I need help with the following and will appreciate any information on these families. We have a Jefferson Co. KY Marriage license and bond dated 2 JUN 1822 for Ephraim POTTER to Jane POTTER; father Moses POTTER, consent in writing. Which is Moses' child? I raise the question because: The Jefferson Co. KY 1848 will of Moses POTTER names his children (not an Ephraim) but does include 'daughter' Jane BRYANT. And then Moses' son, Jesse Potter's 1851 will names his sister "Jane Bryant". Clearly Moses' daughter Jane was married to *a* BRYANT by 1848. This Ephraim Potter first appears in Ky records with the 1822 marriage bond, but does not appear on the Jefferson Co. tax rolls until 1825. Ephraim Potter last appears in Jefferson Co. tax rolls 1829, but is still there on 1830 census. He then drops from sight. What happened to him? Where did he go? The 1829 tax record shows he didn't own land, but did own 2 horses valued at $50. If he died, shouldn't there be something in the Jefferson Co. will book on him? The only POTTERs listed are Moses and Jesse. So far we have not found a marriage record for *a* Jane POTTER to *a* BRYANT. Jane's sister, Cinnatta Potter, married Washington Bryant in 1831. Is this "Washington Bryant" the "George W. Bryant" named executor of Moses Potter's 1848 will? Or is that Jane's husband?? In 1850 "Jane Bryant" appears as head of household living near her mother, Frances Potter, and brother, Jesse Potter. Who did Jane marry and what happened to him?? As I said at the beginning, ANY assistance will be greatly appreciated. Linda Sparks Starr starr81@ix.netcom.com http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lksstarr/
