    3. I am sorry to send this to the entire rootsweb, but I could not contact Evelyn directly Hi Evelyn, my name is Dick Wood from Tucson AZ. I got your address from the Potter Web Page. I was wondering if your records list any of my ancestors >I have a copy of a Potter Genealogy that has 10 different Potter >families. Will be glad to do a look up. Evelyn I am a descendent of Ezra POTTER (my ggg grandfather), a missionary with the Church of England (late 1700's) who married a Cherokee Indian chief's daughter and was dismissed from the Church. He continued to serve the frontier (NY, NJ, PA) as a minister. He was probably born in England. The number of his children is not known. However three of his sons, Charles, Richard and Jacob are known. Charles, married, settled in New Jersey and had 9 sons. One of Charle's son's, Henry, had two sons who served with Captain Jack Sullivan, who marched up the Delaware River to put down Indian uprisings. Richard, bought land in Bethany, Wayne County, PA. Nothing else is known. Jacob (my gg grandfather), b. 1805 in NY, possible Lumberland, d. 7/3/1879, buried in Conklin Hill, PA. He was married 3 times. (1) Matilda Jane UNKNOWN BOOTH; (2) Jane REEVES WOOD; (3) Ruth Jane LITTLE POLLO(A)CK A daughter of Jacob and Ruth Jane, Matilda Jennie POTTER, b. 1864, married Norman GASTON. I am interested to know if you have any information that might shed some light on the ancestors of Ezra, his three sons, Charles, Richard and Jacob. It is my understanding, that sometime in this era (1750-1850), the Archbishop of Canterbury, was also named POTTER. Thanks in advance for any information. By the way, I have an old picture of Jacob, if you are interested in seeing it, I will send it to you.
