Ernest, Well I've traced G. R. Potter From 1903- SLC, Utah back to his birth in Jefferson Co. N.Y.-1850 w/Parents: ROBERT & SUSAN POTTER- I found him in the 1900 census M:Cordelia @ 1888-she's from Penns. This Gilbert did mining business with my grandad-JOSEPH P.STEVENS in MONTANA- 1897-1905. I have copies of the 1850, 1860 census's with G.R. on it! I also have copies of his Mining Patent Applications with a Declaration Of Citizenship, along with verification from an Attorney that he is Indeed GILBERT R.POTTER............do not know what the 'R' stands for! I do believe him to be a relative of G/Grandma- CAROLINE(Potter)Stevens & possibly my other G/Grandma- EMMA(Potter)LENOX- Missouri! I also have obtained a Marriage Record for a GILBERT POTTER M:RACHEL SMITH- dated 1809- from Co.
