The story goes that he was a stow-a-way (with a friend) and jumped ship just before shore of east coast of U.S. (Off the coast of PA or DE). He married Elizabeth WALLS of Sussex County, DE. They had the following children: Sarah L. b. 1896 d. 1978, Pearl P. b. 1894, and Purnell Palmer b.1891 d.1949 (my ggrandfather) all of Sussex County, DE.
