Hello everyone, Thank you to Tom for his information. He has now got me going again. I am now looking for the descendants of John (1855) and Elizabeth POTTER (1857)(nee HILL) from Romsley, Worcester. Their children that I have found so far are Joseph Edward (1879), Elizabeth (Lizzie) (1880), William (Willie) (circa 1882), George (circa 1884), Thomas (1888). Are these anyone's parents, Grandparents or Great Grandparents? Would love to hear from you. John is my Gt Grandfather's brother. Heather Guptill (nee Potter) New Zealand
Hi, I need help.... William Lawrence Potter b: 11 July 1872 in (I think) Starke Co. Indiana married Bertha Jean Den Otter in Mound City, S.D. on the 14 Sep 1909...but then things get sketchy. William supposedly died on 22Nov. 1943 where I don't know? Bertha was born in Pella, Marion Co, Iowa 16 Dec 1890 After that all I know is that she died in April of 1968, I'd like to know where and learn more about this family. Their son George was my Mom's dad and this is for her. Thanks for your time, Jennifer

I am particularly interested in the families of Reuben Potter, the widows Mary Potter and Sarah Potter, and George Potter, from some or all of the censuses of 1777, 1782, 1790 and 1800. There are at least two different Reuben Potter Jrs., of unknown parentage. A Reuben Potter married Mary Kelton, and it is not known who his parentage is, nor is there info on children. One Reuben Potter is a son of Job Potter, and married Elizabeth Waterman. A third Reuben Potter married Sally Fowler, again with no info on children or parentage. The goal of this research is to identify the parentage of Sarah/Sally Potter, born in Providence, Providence, RI in 1783, who married George Field in Providence, Providence, RI, in 1792, and died in Providence, Providence, RI in 1827. I have put related info on various Potters in Providence, of a highly variable quality, from 1777, 178, 1790, 1800, censuses, directories, old property maps, deeds, probate, IGI, Ancestral File, vital records, RI cemetary database, and other sources, on line at: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=figtree1&id=I15712
How many of you on this list have or know about a Miles Potter. OUr first proven line was Miles Potter, Sr. who was in SC. and was there in mid 1700's. He got land for supplies, etc in American Revolution. Think birth was ca. 1750-some say born NC or Scot. and died ca. 15 Nov 1804 from records I have - I think I have his will. Some where I found his wife as Sarah ?and she was born ca 1755, Their son Miles Potter was born(have this Bible) 29 Sept 1785 in SC m. 19 Dec 1828 -doesn't day where but think in Ga.. He died in washington Co. Fla 1841-50. Have not been able to pinpoint exact date. From records I have there were 3 sons of Miles Sr. who were besides Miles Jr, Levi, 31 Oct 1787 and Robert(b. 26 July 1782 and 2 girls-Letitia b. Sumter 13 Nov 1777- who married William Vaughn 9records of her are from Sumter Co. SC , Sister mary b. 1779 but no other records for her. Have all those records from land grants, etc. The 3 brothers all ended up in washington co,FL and the girl I know was in Ala. with her family. Have her name and marriage in records in storage from a recent move and can't get to them right now. This is all I can add at this time. I keep hoping others are from some of these There was another Miles Potter family in the 1790 census in -seem to remember Wilmington NC area and he had sons Robert and Miles but they seem to have their all connected. so there has GOT TO BE a connection somehow. Wouldn't you agree? Sarah Browder
