    3. I had previously listed on my POSEY page the possiblity (with question marks) that the Mary DUNAWAY who in November 1710 bound her son Richard WISE age 10 to Edward CORNISH, and son Francis WISE age 8 to Thomas AUSTIN might have been identical to Mary, daughter of John POSEY and his wife Susanna. If it were true, then Mary would have been binding her children to her brother-in-law Edward CORNISH (who married John POSEY's daughter Jane POSEY) and her step father Thomas AUSTIN (who married John POSEY's widow Susanna after John's death). That would also mean that by elimination, John POSEY's daughter Elizabeth would be the daughter that married Charles ALLISON. Charles County, Maryland Depostions by Robert W. Barnes in Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin 33: 697 (from CCLR 52: 424) gives the depostion of Edward BRAWNER age 75 on 27-30 March 1758. He stated that after the death of Garrard BROWN, his widow married Dr. John CORNISH. The youngest daughter of Garrard BROWN was Mary, who first married Richard MARSHALL, second Richard WISE, and third a DUNAWAY. The deposition of William NELSON on 17 Sep. 1753, age 53 (CCLR D3: 309) mentioned a widow WISE who married Timothy DUNAWAY. (MGSB 34: 170) Garrard BROWN wrote his will 11 July 1676, proved 3 Jan. 1677 named wife Martha, son John, daughter Jane, and daughter Mary. (MD Cal. of Wills 1: 207) Charles County land records also show that John CORNISH and wife Martha had (among others) a son Edward born 10 Oct. 1682. Therefore, Mary (BROWN) MARSHALL WISE DUNAWAY was a half-sister to Edward CORNISH, and why she chose him as a guardian for one son. What happened to John POSEY's daughters Mary or Elizabeth is unknown, other than that one of them married Charles ALLISON. I have seen some gedcoms stating as fact the above regarding Mary which I had in question marks on my page. Please make the appropriate changes to your records.
