Emma's notes on Poseys who landed in Savannah reminded me I had some notes taken in Savannah this past summer from the Georgia Historical Society and I haven't yet connected these 2 people. Anson Ward, (b. 1770?)(buried old South Broad St. Cemetery) Death cards 1859-60 Savannah at GA Hist. Society Dr. John F. Posey, York St. Percival Ward date: 1-15-1860 age 67 remarks: SC debility, Dr. Read. buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery. "Laurel Grove Cemetery, Savannah, index to Keeper's Record Books 1852-1938 Vol 3 compiled by WPA 1939" Dr. John F. Posey lot 1159. Died 1-15-1860 buried 1-16-1860 age 67 years, 10 months, 21 days. Born in SC, lived on York St. There is a lengthy article on Dr. Posey which says he arrived in Savannah about 1808 and there is also a Posey Street in Savannah I think may have been named for him.
