    3. Rebecca, Below you will find the first official records I have found of Nehemiah Posey in Montgomery Co. AL In some old chattel mortgages of Montgomery Co., AL was found in 1848 a mortgage from Nehemiah Posey to James Tucker for one bale of cotton. In 1855 from Nehemiah Posey and William Posey to David Garner for $60.00,one wagon, two horses, three cows and yearlings. Also in 1858 a mortgage from Nehemiah and William Posey to David Garner and Peter Hufham for $56.54, one gray horse, one two-horse wagon, one cow and calf entire crop of corn. In 1860 Nehemiah Posey, do agree to and dispose of a certain mare mule to William Rushton. I have just begun to research this man, however I have found this in reference to his son in law, Moses Rushton, who married Sarah his daughter. This was found in old church records here in Montgomery Co. AL just a few miles away from where Richard Posey had settled. Moses Rushton, to whom the deed for the church property was made, settled in this community in 1840, on a tract of land which was given him by US Government for service in the War of 1812. Given a land warrant for 160 acres anywhere within the public domain, he set out from home in Orangeburg district SC and entered this amount in what is now the Pisgah community, clearing trees for a space to build his home and begin his farm. Along with the knowledge that Sarah and Moses were married in Orangeburg District Aiken Co., SC on Feb 2, 1817. This might help to narrow down who is who.
