Lots of people who served in the Rev. War, aren't in the records. The records that survived are only partial according to the librarian at the DAR library in Washington. Also, the only records they have are from descendants who have applied for membership in the DAR. I was able to "honor" three soldiers who fought in the Rev. War by digging into courthouse and archive records. Two for me, and one for my husband. I'm proud that they are now recognized as patriots, and are now in the Patriot Index. No, I don't have my Posey honored yet, but I expect to find it someday. The DAR, SAR and the Mormons don't have all the answers, so if you can't find it there, keep on searching. Sorry, off the soapbox now.
