    2. Dear Friends, Glad you cleared that up, that is my impression too, I now know that they "vetted" people based upon family records that are just jotted down "oral history". I have at least one glaring example of a family in one of my lines, where the 19th Century account of someone, claimed to have a Rev. War General in their ranks, and no actual documentation can be found. This family has been in the DAR for quite a long time. Would they get in now? Probably not. In my Rigg line, we have oral history which found its way into genealogies written up by family members since the turn of the century which claims our ancestor, Townley Rigg, served in the Rev. War. He supposedly died in that war in 1781. There are no records of it that I have found, yet his brother is well-documented. Go figure. Charlotte Rigg Nugent
