I am sure that all of you know that what was Orangeburgh dist in 1790 contained all or parts of the current counties of Lexington, Orangeburgh, Aiken, Barnwell, Allendale, etc. If you will go to the SC Genweg Page and click on Old Districts you will see the development of the counties. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/3837/ Lots of interesting reading there. The fact that Orangeburg bordered The Old 96 District and the area that became known as Edgefield could explain the deeds in Edgefield.
