On March 17, 1828, in Hampshire Co, WV (then VA), one William Posey posted bond for a marriage contract between one Sarah Ann Posey and one Hiram Pickering. My great-great-great grandfather Hiram Pickering lived and died in that county, but censuses give his wife's name as Sophia. Census ages suggest the birth year of the eldest child in his household was 1832, but the next eldest wasn't born until 1838. Hiram would have been about 25 in 1828, so let's presume this Sarah was born somewhere around 1810, give or take about five years. Does anyone know this lady, or whether the marriage was ever completed?
