Ed, I guess this doesn't answer your question , but in the on-line "George Washington Papers" (Library of Congress-American Memory Collection), the annotation under the 9Jun1769 entry says that (Capt.) John POSEY had just married Elizabeth ADAIR of Chestertown, MD. The April 1769 notes say that John's wife Martha (Price Harrison) had died within the past year. John was living in Fairfax Co., VA. The dates don't go along with your Elizabeth, but there's the same names----as you say, it's all rather confusing. Barbara Dahl
