See some guidelines from the National Genealogical Society at: http://www.ngsgenealogy.org/main/body_frame.html and then click on Genealogical Standards, and then on Standards For Use of Technology in Genealogical Research. Considering the proliferation of undocumented records and misinformation regarding the early POSEY generations passed around, I find the ninth point about personally verifying information or noting it as unverified before passing it on to others very pertinent to POSEY.
