The Reverend Jonas Moon (b. 18 Jul 1777 in PA; d. 27 Apr 1849 in Hamilton Co., TN) was the son of William Moon (1744-1822) and his wife, Sophia Moon. It's likely the family originated in Northumberland Co., PA. They established themselves in Sevier Co., TN by 1805. The Reverend and his wife, Lydia, would later move from Sevier County and settle in Roane Co., TN and still later move to Hamilton Co., TN. The Reverend Jonas Moon was married to Lydia (surname unknown). Lydia was born 9 Aug 1780 in Virginia and died 20 May 1855 in Hamilton Co., TN. She and her husband are buried at the Francisco Family Cemetery, two of their sons having married into that family. Among the children of The Reverend Jonas Moon and his wife, Lydia Moon, was a son who they named "Jonas Posey Moon." It is felt there may be a connection to the Posey family, probably through Lydia.
