They all list Matilda as the daughter of Nathaniel Foshee born Dec 04, 1733 and Mary Campel. She was born in South Carolina and married Francis Posey. I have just started on this line, so I have not had a chance to check this information yet. You may want to contact Barbara Hunt, P.O. Box 985, Kathleen, FL. 33849. She is very active in this group. There is a very strange story connected with this line. My daughter-in-law is also named Rita and we are both decended from this same Nathaniel Foshee. My original contact came from her sister. Before that it was pretty much on the "honor system." If Aunt Bertha said she was the great-grandaughter of so and so, it was accepted. And many people were able to join simply by hooking up with Aunt Bertha's line, so the mistakes were perpetuated. I've even seen instances where a line was accepted and the "Patriot" turned out to have been a Loyalist! :-) Vickie Elam White
never mind answering, I saw the rest of the transcriptions......These are wonderful....Thank you so much
Hi Shirley....what was this and where did it come from.....
When I joined the DAR I had to prove everything I listed. They never accept someones word or a relatives story. Everything has to be documented. (Unlike the LDS}

Try this general site.
Dear Friends, I am researching Rigg and Posey because these are families that intermarried (we think) and moved west together. I have some info on Wood County because my family went to Wood as well. I'm late for work now, will try to look for and send tomorrow or next day. If you don't hear from me soon, bug me!! I have a very busy life and somethings fall through the cracks. Charlotte Rigg Nugent
Dear Friends, I agree with what you said about the DAR and the LDS archives. I was just running through the basic stuff with a friend who is thinking about doing genealogy. First thing I said was to beware of the info in the Family History files which are solely submitted by family members. I understand that the Mormons have another archive which has been "proofed" or some such which is more reliable. Much information is wrong, but I use it as a general guide, always being careful to back it up with as much primary source documentation that I can. Beginners in genealogy have to be warned, because for years, genealogy was done mostly by amateurs who took "Aunt Bertie's little list" as gospel and submitted it to all these archives, with the resulting mess we have today, trying to tease out solid evidence from family myth and tradition. Now I'm off my rant! Charlotte Rigg Nugent
