As part of her leaving celebrations, a band from the Industrial School played onboard. According to one newspaper report, some of these boys 'sailed with the ship'. On the Crew List, there are 4 'Boys' from Liverpool aged from 12 to 16. One of these, Daniel GILSHERE appears at the Industrial Schol in the 1851 census as Daniel GILSHIRE. I can find no other trace of him either in Liverpool or Australia. Does anyone have any information about Daniel or about the this group of boys in general? Was it common for Boys from the School to be 'emigrated' in this way? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
