In the 1911 census she is an inmate at Clutton Union Workhouse and her husband is living with his parents where his occupation is listed as a stone mason. Can you think of any reason why she would be in the workhouse when her husband has work and family? Unfortunately poorhouses were often places people went if they were deemed mentally ill or very sick. I have seen in some records where women were put into these places for menopause! My GGG grandfather died in a poorhouse fire. He was in the asylum portion of the building. He was in his 80 s and I'm sure the main reason he was there was because of his health and age. Kindling. _____________________________________________ From: Brenda D <susieque22002@gmail.com> Sent: Wed May 30 09:25:38 CDT 2012 To: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com, poorhouses@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [POORHOUSES] Clutton Union Workhouse & General Query Marriage problems?
