It did happen that the same person could be enumerated at two different addresses, just as it was possible in the most recent UK census to record yourself living at your permanent address, but if you were staying somewhere else you had to record yourself as a visitor there too. I have the Notts Family History Society baptism CD and it's interesting that although Robert Briggs' baptism was at Bleasby, his and Elizabeth's abode was Gibsmere, which is where he was in 1841 on the census image you've given me the reference for. It looks as if the facts, such as you have them, do tie up. I think that 'inmate' does just mean that Robert was living in that dwelling with other people - it's a fairly archaic term.
