Author: patriciacarr114 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.institutions.poorhouses.general/119.2.1.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I also have not done anywork on family tree, did get intouch with walthamstow who told me that they had nothing on that workhouse but to get in touch with straford when i first started and they told me they had nothing but i had to ask for the guardian books to look at[,ithink this is right but not sure].Anyway they have have all the accounts of money that was paid in or out at the workhouse Idid ask to look at these books from the time nan was born .went threw a couple of years but i think maybe i should have got the year befor to go threw,you ask for the years you want and they bring them up from basement they had every thing coal shopping butcher that was paid out and if someone was paying for someone in there there was no usher in there anywhere mentioned that i could find as they were shutting i had to call it a day but was there almost 2hr you need a lot of time hope this is some help.
