I wonder if anyone can help. I have the death certificate for my husband's great grandmother and it says she died in Liverpool workhouse in 1910. My husband's grandfather was only 4 at the time and I believe his father had already lost his life at sea. Would the 4 year old boy have stayed in the workhouse? We have been told by relatives that he was put in an orphanage when his mother died. Thing is, I just can't find him on the 1911 census. Were inmates of workhouses included on the census? They aren't easy to research as the surname is Jones! If anyone can help much appreciated. Thanks Sarah Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
