    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Pollard, Brooks Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hEBBAIB/985.1.1.1 Message Board Post: This is the second try to send this reply -- the first one got lost so if you get two (or a blank one) you'll know why! The best guess is that Elizabeth "Bettie" Ann Pollard was a daughter of John Pollard born about 1785 and wife Elizabeth Strong/Strang (?) born about 1794 in South Carolina. They had at least 10 children, assuming that Elizabeth Ann was one of them, and possibly 11, all born between 1812 and 1834 or so. They did have a son named John (John Jackson Pollard) who moved to Alabama -- his first wife was named Sarah Ann Pounds whom he married in 1847, and his second wife was Clarissa Spruell whom he married in 1885. I'm confident that Elizabeth Ann was one of the children because she named a son Rosston Whatley Brooks, and one of the sons of John and Elizabeth Pollard (who also moved to Texas) was named Rosston Whatley Pollard. It seems logical she would have named a son after her brother. Incidentally another Pollard daughter, Louisa, married Alexander R. Brooks in Paulding County -- but he is not related so far as I know to Allen Brooks. (Allen, John L., and James Micajah Brooks were all sons of John Brooks and first wife Elizabeth Tolar. Alexander was a son of Chivers and Susan Elliott Brooks.) I can't see where your Matilda Trevethan fits in, but there was probably a relationship. More puzzles!
