Hillsboro Reporter October 2002 MARY POLLARD Mrs. Ethylon Hancock Pollard, 88, of San Antonio died Thursday, October 3. She was born January 29, 1914 in Malone, daughter of Charles (Charlie) Cleveland and Estella Craig Hancock. She graduated from high school in 1931. She married John Hollis Pollard June 5, 1932 in Blum. They lived for a while in Osceola. She was active in the community as a volunteer with the Home Demonstration Agency and other public services. She worked as a seamstress for a clothes manufacturer in Hillsboro. She was appointed postmaster in 1950 of the federal post office in Osceola and served until May, 1953. They then moved to Seymour, Lubbock, Dallas, San Antonio and Mt. Pleasant because of Hollis� job. He preceded her in death in 1978. She later moved to San Antonio. She was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Hollis Pollard; three sisters, Faye Tanner, Lee Harper and Blanche McNairy; and one brother, Ross Hancock. Survivors include: one son; one daughter-in-law; five grandsons; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 7, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Rev. Dr. Bob Chandler and Hillsboro Order of the Eastern Star officiating. Memorials may be made to the Eastern Star or a favorite charity.
