(The descendants of this POlLARD family still live in Columbia County, GA.) Anyhow: my Martha MARSHALl was the granddaughter of the Rev. Daniel MARSHALL, a well-known Baptist preacher who founded the first Baptist church in GA at Kiokee Creek, Columbia County, GA. Martha's father was Zacheus MARSHALL, who married Susannah LUCAS. Robert and Martha Marshall POLLARD had the following children: Sarah, Mary F., Martha Mariah, Zacheus, Robert D., Lucinda, Levi Anderson, Melvina, Thomas, Samuel, and Elizabeth (Eliza). Daughter Sarah married an unknown DAGNALL. (She is named in her mother's will as Sarah DAGNALL.) Her sister Mary married Isaac MILES 21 Dec 1822. (Mary is named in the Will of her mother Martha Marshall Pollard as Mary F. MILES. This is my family. Martha MARSHALL and Robert POLLARD are my fourth great grandparents, and Daniel MARSHALL is my sixth great grandfather. While I understand Mary Ellen Rose's comment that she doesn't show some of these children listed for William Colson POLLARD & Hannah ARBUCKLE, I've long felt that with a marriage date of 1817 there should be other children than those traditionally attributed to this family & evidence you have so kindly shared with us provides lots of ammunition to validate the assumption that there were additonal children who had not yet been acknowledged as belonging to this family. I for one feel quite confident and comfortable with what you have provided and thank you very much for going into such detail in your response. My interest in the William attributed to being a son of William Colson POLLARD & Hannah ARBUCKLE is the fact that he was among early POLLARDs found in Caldwell Co., MO as I have a VA-KY POLLARD line that was in nearby ! Andrew Co.,MO at about the same time frame (Roger B POLLARD 1784-1866 & wife Sarah C (SMITH) POLLARD 1788-1860's who also had son named William(aka Robert Q) b1820-ShelbyCo,KY so my main interest was in determining the line of William S POLLARD b1824 to make certain he was not the same William from my POLLARD line. In my mind, your info certainly gives a clear picture as to Line of William S in view of naming pattern of his children and other documentation you kindly shared and which is certainly gratefully appreciated. He had sympathized with the Southern cause and was arrested in the early part of the rebellion, and was confined in prison during most of the war. Shortly before her death Mrs. Pollard received a letter from Solomon Parks, Presiding Elder of the African Methodist Church at Bonne Terre, MO., who was one of her slaves before the war. He was on what he believed to be his death bed, and wrote to thank her for her kindness to him. An aunt of Mrs. Pollard, Mrs. Serena Hughes of Richmond, MO, widow of the late Judge Charles J. Mrs. Pollard was intimately acquainted with many families who were prominent before the Civil War, and used to attend parties at the home in Sheridan County, Missouri of Governor Sterling Price, who was afterwards General Price of the Confederate Army. She joined the Christian Church shortly after it was established in Missouri. She remained a faithful member until her death and was one of the oldest members in Missouri.
