Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hEBBAIB/1187 Message Board Post: Albuquerque Journal - November 9, 2003 Neith James Pollard, 80, longtime resident of Belen and Albuquerque, died in Cookeville, Tennessee on Wednesday, October 29, 2003. A private Memorial Service will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Neith was born in East Tawas, Michigan on August 22, 1923. After serving in the Navy for four years, he married Shirley "Mitts" Pollard on December 5, 1945. Mr. Pollard earned bachelor and master of science degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and Tulane University. He taught at the University of North Dakota, Tulane University, and the University of New Mexico. He worked for Sandia National Laboratories for 29 years. He was active in Jaycees and in the establishment of Boys Clubs in Albuquerque. He was a long-time member of Belen Rotary Club and involved in its international scholarship program. Neith had an enthusiasm for life. His quick wit and gift of song brought joy to all who knew him. He was an avid outdoorsman a! nd enjoyed golf, boating, photography, bird-watching, and astronomy. His family includes two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Jo and Dennis George of Cookeville, Tennessee and Patricia Lee and Rick Helmick of Durango, Colorado; one brother, Wayne Pollard of El Paso, Texas; and seven grandchildren, Jason, Chris, Christina, Brett, Josielynda, Paul, and Sierra. Neith was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years; one brother, Merrill Pollard; and three sisters, Dorine MacMullen, Peg Vaughan, and Kay Vaughan.

Pollard and his wife, Sarah E. (Sallie) of Van Zandt County, Texas. In the book "Southern Pollards", this bible is mentioned as being in the hands of Mrs. Thomas Pollard, Sr. of Tyler, Texas, at the time the book was published in 1971. I wish to obtain a copy of the birth, death, marriage, etc. pages from the bible. Thank you for any help.

Is this the same person or two different men? I found a Devauld Pollard age 4 yrs old on the 1880 Census of Beverly Manor, Augusta County, Virginia. According to this census he is the son of Edward Pollard age 31 at this time, and Hettie Jane Pollard age 21. Also in this home on the 1880 census was: Clara E. Pollard age 2 yrs old Sedalia? Pollard age 4 months old There is a Duval Pollard(born abt 1877) who I am told is the son of Esmond Pollard(Is this Edward?) and Hester J. Pollard(is this Hettie Jane?). It seems to me that they are the same people, because the birthdays are about the same. Any information is appreciated. sgm

Need to tie them to Jesse and Julia Weatherford Pollard. I have lots of information on Pollards from that area. In fact James and Martha lived on the Pollard homeplace and was supposed to still be in the White family about 20 - 30 years ago. I don't know that for a fact. I have not been able to look up land records.

I finally found that the book: History of the Pollard Family, by: Maurice J. Pollard is available in some libraries.     2. Dear Dianna, My mother corresponded with Maurice Pollard for a period of time & submitted our Pollard info which he had so little of and also had some errors in that which he did have. I also would like to know if volume 2 was ever published. If so, it might include the Pollards out of Wake Co. NC. There are a half-doz. of us that are stuck there. I have volume 1 of the The History of the Pollard Family of America by Maurice Pollard. If anyone wants a look up I'll be happy to do it. I'm not always able to work on genealogy so it might take me a while. I haven't posted my Pollard family to the list but will do so soon. Love and light, Judy Dunbar
