Hello I'm new to researching my mothers family I was raised by my Father and grandmother I started all my research on the Welsh and English side of my family now after sending in my DNA to Sorenson I learned about y-cromosome and mtDNA so now I need to work on My maternal side but thats been a blank sheet for me. Only a handful of family are still alive they were always very closed mouth. The children never learned to speak Polish, So I'll tell you what I have and maybe someone can point me in the right direction to get started with this?? I searched the 1930 USA census and found my mother and aunts.I discovered my grandfather Adam Zabalowicz [another spelling used by my family was Zyblowicz] I learned he was born in Poland in 1894 and came to the USA in 1910 settled in Chicago ,Cook Co. IL. And worked at the Chicago Stock Yards as a Butcher Meat Packer. My grandmother was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1904 Anna [Annie] Shimala and came to the USA 1905 ,I believe her father was Charles and her mother Christine they settled in Whiting, Indiana just east of Chicago,Il. The Family were always Catholic and I have no doubt lived near church's all their lifes all of the Children were buried in Reserrection Cemetery in Justice IL. the oldest daughter Mary Zyblowicz-Byseck b.1924 and her husband Stanley,Helen Zyblowicz-Wallace b.1927, Edward Zyblowicz b, 1926, John Zyblowicz b,1925 died in New York so I don't know where he was buried?? Nellie Zyblowizc b. 1929 the youngest is still alive but I know she had a husband that died so I don't know how to contact her or even the name she goes by?? are these uncommon names?? I've tried to find these names in the past with no results the 1930 census is spelled different and before 1930 I find nothing but mother and uncle Edwards S.S.death registry Any idea how I would try to find any information?? Let me mention I'm on disability and can't travel far from home this computer and my grandchildren are my life this is all about them and their family ,Their father was born in Poland in a village full of relatives so they don't understand the big deal My son-in-law thinks they probley aren't Polish names, Like I said all he knows is His family were the big shots and his family name was better than others in his village his sisters kept the family name when they married ?? Makes no sense to me??" Wojnicki" is it special?? The biggest brick and steel wall I could hit!! Claire
