Hello Tracy, Tulpin~ska or Tulpin~ski would be the correct way to spell this Polish surname. In 1990 there was only one adult carrying that name in Poland. That person was living in the province of Suwalskie. Today that is in in the province of Podlaskie. It even sounds reasonable that Tulpin~szki would be correct, but that name cannot currently be found in Poland. Wigrach is Wigry, which is located a little north east of the old provinicial capital city of Suwalski. Most times names and places get misspelled because of ignorance. Sometimes our ignorance makes us thinks things are spelled wrong. Polish is not like English. We add words to show possession. They change how words end to do this and for other grammarical uses. There are many features of the language, which you will learn as you progress in your reasearch, i.e. -ska is a female ending on a surname, and -ski is masculine. Ship manifests were written in the port of origin, so if a German wrote is versus a French person or English person, the spelling would be different. They would use the closest phonetic sounds in their language to spell words. This is why we have such a hard time finding records. Polish has sounds, which cannot phonetically written correctly in English. They have sounds we just do not use in our language. Both Krasnopol and Wigry have parishes.
