    3. I took a trip t0 Poland to do the same thing. I did find my maternal side in the village of Zmijewo, and the paternal side in Bydgoszcz. We went to the cemetery, and most of the names were the same as my mother's maiden name Zmijewski. After reading several books I realized that surnames were taken either after the name of the village, occupation, etc. My father's side was Kluskowski, which kluska means noodle. Having been to the churches and meeting people ,I was satisfied, and happy that I went to visit the land of my ancestors. My parents were born here in US, it was my grandparents that came in late 1800's I am interested in how you will handle this search please e-mail me. I communicated with a Polish woman who drove us around Poland. That is your best chance in finding places. We spent three weeks there. It is beautifull country ...enjoy it.
